Meaning
In the beginning, having created beings together with sacrifice, Prajāpati said: “By this you shall multiply; let this be your wish-fulfilling cow.” Kāmadhuk recalls Kāmadhenu, the cow that yields every desire. The verse begins a picture of the world as a cycle of giving and receiving (3.10–3.16).
For children
Krishna tells a story: “When the world began, the Creator said to everyone: give and share, and you will always have what you need.”
Kṛṣṇa explains yajña (3.9) with a story of creation, which continues to 3.16.
